Job Description

The Assistant Store Manager of Merchandising provides leadership and direction to the store merchandising team. Through creating long-term strategies and leading company initiatives, the Assistant Store Manager of Merchandising ensures maximum productivity, profitability, operational excellence and compliance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Integrity
• Consistently checks sales from previous day(s), including WTD, MTD, QTD, YTD
• Demonstrates knowledge of, and constantly utilizes, the Store Opening-Closing checklist.
• Follows all company email policies
• Knows how to scan documents to the email system
• Sends and responds to emails frequently (example: opening, mid-day, and close)

Merchandising & Stock Management

• Maintains backstock according to operational standards

Talent
• Receives, reviews and/or pre-screens employment applications
• Conducts interviews with potential candidates
• Follows all company policies and procedures when hiring/rehiring an employee (i.e. background checks, making offers, submitting new hire paperwork, direct deposit enrollment, etc.)
• Performs on-the-moment coaching (as applicable and/or through utilizations of the 4C’s Of A Figure 8)
• Demonstrates knowledge of employee handbook
• Performs performance and attendance corrective actions and follow-ups (as needed)
• Provides employee support when they have concerns/complaints

Skills & Experience Requirements:

• Must have at least 2 to 4 years of retail management experience. Prior retail store leadership experience preferred
• College degree or relevant technical or vocational training preferred
• Must be skilled in leadership, coaching, and training, sales generation, strategic planning, authentic customer service, communication, conflict resolution, business acumen, time management, and POS and other retail software proficiency.
• Must be able to provide feedback, develop others, embrace and lead change, and make decisions under ambiguity.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to act with integrity and professionalism to ensure that all business is conducted without bias or prejudice.
• Must be able to maneuver around sales floor and stock rooms, work with cleaning chemicals and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including 2 closing shifts per week and 2 full weekends per month.

• Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 75lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
